Miles Raneri is currently a junior at Tulane University. He is majoring in Design with minors in SLAM (strategy, analytics, leadership, and management), and Studio Arts with a focus in glass blowing. He is most interested in product and industrial design, supported by his making skills. He is also interested in art, specifically mixed media sculpture, and recently had a piece that combined welding and glassblowing exhibited in the Newcomb Undergraduate exhibition. Miles is a member of the championship-winning Tulane University Varsity Sailing Team, and recently obtained his official FAA drone pilot’s license. Miles grew up in San Francisco, California, where he discovered his passion for design and building. He was a four-time Maker Faire “Editors Choice” blue ribbon winner. (Projects included a remote-controlled blimp, amphibious vehicle, and modern reinterpretation of Leonardo DaVinci’s armored tank.) And, in high school, he designed an inexpensive, portable wind-power solution for underdeveloped countries. Miles hopes to pursue a career in industrial and product design.
